How to Intoduce Yourself in GERMAN

Hello = Hallo (”a” as in “craft”)
Good day/afternoon = Guten Tag (”a” as in “craft”)
Good evening = Guten Abend (”….”)

How are you? = Wie geht es dir? (”ie” as in “ee”; “eh” as the e in “get”)
I am fine = Mir geht es gut.
Thank you = Danke
Please = Bitte

What’s your name? = Wie heisst du? (”ei” spoken as the i in “wine”)
My name is…. = Ich heisse …./Mein Name ist…
How old are you? = Wie alt bist du?
I am… years old = Ich bin…. alt
What hobbies do you have? = Was sind deine Hobbies?

See you later = Bis bald
Good night = gute Nacht (”ch”spoken as in the scot.”ch”in “loch”)
Good bye = Auf Wiedersehen
bye = Tschuess (ue spoken like the “oo”in “soon”)

It was a pleasure to meet you. = Es war mir eine Freude dich kennen zu lernen. (”eu” spoken as the “oy” in boy)
Nice to meet you = Nett,dich kennen zu lernen)

Colours - Farben

Red == rot

Blue == Blau [au - as in ough in "plough"]

Grey == Grau

Dark == dunkel

Gold == Gold

Black == Schwarz [sch-as sh in "ship"]

White == Weiss

Green == Gruen [u -as the u in "june"]

Light == hell

Silver == Silber

Yellow == Gelb

Purple == lila [i -as ee in "bee"]

Orange == Orange

Copper == Kupfer [pf- similar to f]

Vermilion == Zinnober

To say a number in the teens, you put Zehn at the end of the number. Example “Thirteen” three+ten=thirteen Drei+Zehn= “Dreizehn”

Everyother number after that up to 100 you simple put “zig” at the end

To make a two digit number above twenty, example: “24″ the “4″ comes before the twenty part. In English written out the word “24″ would be twentyfour, but in German the word is, “Vierundzwanzig”. The “4″ is placed infrount of the twenty part. Translated “Vierundzwanzig” would be “four and twenty”.

This rule is for every german number, 76 would be Sechsundsiebzig, 55 would become Fünfundfünfzig, 49 would become Neunundvierzig.
